Nepal has appointed former Supreme Court Chief Justice Sushila Karki as its interim prime minister, marking the first time in the country’s history that a woman has led the government.
The episode, captured in videos came on the heels of a dramatic attack on the parliament building, where protestors set fire to sections of the legislature just hours earlier.
Several government residences came under attack. Nepal’s Army evacuated ministers from their homes in Bhaisepati by helicopter as demonstrators torched properties.
